A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the Greek island of Crete on Saturday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The agency reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometers and was centered approximately 69 kilometers southwest of the city of Rethymno.
No casualties or material damage have been reported so far, while authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact of the seismic event.
