A suspect in a shooting that killed one person and injured seven others in Trappes and La Verrière, west of Paris, admitted deliberately targeting individuals he believed were Muslim or of African and North African origin, according to France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Olivier Christen said the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Kevin T., had planned the attack and carried it out on October 23 using a submachine gun.
The attack killed 26-year-old Bingo Bosio Wangi, originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and injured seven others, including an 11-year-old girl.
Three injured victims remained hospitalized, one in critical condition.
Investigators searching the suspect’s home discovered ammunition, weapons, and a copy of Adolf Hitler’s *Mein Kampf*.
