Israeli Knesset Elections: Netanyahu’s Bloc Leads but Falls Short of Majority

Results attributed to the counting of 99% of votes in Israel’s Knesset elections show Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc leading with 53 seats, compared with 48 seats for the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot and 19 seats for Arab parties, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

Neither of the two main political blocs secured the 61 seats required for a majority in the 120-member Knesset.

Israel’s Central Elections Committee announced that the counting of double-envelope ballots had been completed, while stressing that the results remained provisional.

Official results are scheduled to be announced on November 4, following additional checks intended to verify the integrity of the electoral process.
