Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons has suffered a serious knee injury that will require surgery.
The club said Simons sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during the match against Wolverhampton, leaving the pitch on a stretcher in the 63rd minute.
He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks before beginning rehabilitation with the club’s medical staff.
Simons stated that his season has ended abruptly and that the injury will keep him out of the 2026 World Cup.
