The president of the Norwegian Football Federation, Lise Klaveness, has called for the abolition of the FIFA Peace Prize, arguing that it falls outside FIFA’s mandate and opens the door to politicization.

She stressed that such awards should remain within independent institutions such as the Nobel Committee, warning about the lack of clear standards and transparent governance.

She also emphasized that football must remain at arm’s length from political leaders to avoid the sport being used for political purposes.
