Authorities in China announced on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, that the death toll from a fireworks factory explosion in Hunan Province has risen to 21, with 61 people injured.
The incident occurred on Monday at around 4:43 p.m. at a facility operated by Huasheng Fireworks Company in the city of Liuyang, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Following the explosion, authorities deployed more than 480 rescue workers organized into five field teams, supported by three advanced robots to assist in search operations within hazardous areas.
