Erling Haaland scored twice for the second consecutive World Cup match as Norway secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Senegal on Tuesday, booking a place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Norway moved to six points in Group I, level with France ahead of their decisive clash on Friday, which will determine the group winner.
Substitute Markus Pedersen opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Kalidou Koulibaly, finishing past goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Haaland, who had struck the post late in the first half, doubled Norway’s lead three minutes after the restart following a pass from Martin Ødegaard, blasting the ball into the top corner.
Ismaïla Sarr reduced the deficit for Senegal in the 53rd minute after an excellent assist from Sadio Mané, but Haaland restored Norway’s two-goal advantage five minutes later with his second goal of the night.
Sarr scored again in stoppage time, but Norway held on to secure victory and qualification for the knockout stage.
