Air India and Akasa Air announced flight cancellations after Indian airspace was affected by volcanic ash from an eruption in Ethiopia.
Air India canceled 11 flights for precautionary aircraft inspections following directives from aviation authorities.
Akasa also canceled flights to Jeddah, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi on Monday and Tuesday.
Meteorologists said the ash cloud is moving toward China, while reports indicated that the “Hayli Gobi” volcano spewed ash up to 14 km high, with effects reaching Pakistan and northern India.
