The Israeli military announced on Saturday, May 9, 2026, that it had carried out more than 85 air and ground strikes targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, marking a new escalation along the border area.
In an official statement, the Israeli army said the operations targeted weapons depots, rocket launchers, and military facilities allegedly used by Hezbollah.
The statement added that the strikes were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to “eliminate threats facing Israeli civilians and soldiers in southern Lebanon.”
According to the Israeli military, the attacks carried out over the past 24 hours included strikes on multiple Hezbollah-linked sites, including facilities allegedly used to launch operations against Israeli forces.
The army also claimed it targeted an underground site in the Bekaa Valley that was allegedly used for weapons manufacturing, in addition to striking Hezbollah fighters involved in operations against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.
