Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel will not withdraw from territories it has taken control of in Lebanon, warning that any Iranian attack linked to developments in Lebanon would be met with a reciprocal response.
Katz stated that Israeli forces would remain in what he described as “security zones” in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip, arguing that control of those areas represents one of the military’s most significant achievements during the conflict.
He stressed that Israel rejects current and future pressure to withdraw from the territories under its control in Lebanon, adding that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has communicated this position to U.S. President Donald Trump and senior American officials.
The remarks came shortly after the announcement of a U.S.-Iran peace agreement aimed at ending military operations across the Middle East, including confrontations linked to Lebanon.
