Mauritanian authorities announced on Thursday the rescue of 77 irregular migrants aboard a traditional vessel in the country’s territorial waters.

The operation brings the number of migrants rescued over the past ten days to more than 500 people.

According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, the boat departed from Guinea-Conakry and carried 59 men, 11 women, and seven minors.
