The Royal Palace of Norway has announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been placed on a lung transplant waiting list due to a chronic lung disease that has seriously affected her health.

According to the palace, Crown Prince Haakon will adjust his schedule to spend more time with his wife and reduce both domestic and international engagements before and after the surgery.

The statement also noted that their daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, has returned from Australia and will spend the autumn semester studying at University of Oslo. Their son, Prince Sverre Magnus, is expected to begin studies elsewhere in Europe and return home if circumstances require.

Mette-Marit, 52, was diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis in 2018.
