Pakistan Announces U.S.-Iran Peace Agreement, Signing Ceremony Set for Geneva

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement aimed at immediately ending military operations across the Middle East, including hostilities in Lebanon.

Sharif said Pakistan facilitated the negotiations that led to the breakthrough and confirmed that the signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 19.

Iran welcomed the agreement, stating that it would bring the conflict to an immediate end and describing its performance during the confrontation as a series of “major victories.”

Following the announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to international shipping and said the United States would lift its naval blockade measures.

In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump said the agreement with Iran had been finalized and congratulated all parties involved.

He added that vessels would be allowed to transit through the Strait of Hormuz without passage fees and confirmed the immediate removal of the U.S. naval blockade.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance also announced plans to attend the signing ceremony in Geneva, adding that President Trump’s participation remains a possibility.
