U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday, after arriving in the French city of Évian for the Group of Seven summit, that the Strait of Hormuz would be “fully open” by Friday.
Speaking alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump indicated that the text of the agreement with Iran could be made public after Friday, when the official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Geneva.
A U.S. administration official said that Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had electronically signed the agreement aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Trump wanted to sign the agreement personally to demonstrate his commitment to achieving a successful resolution.
The developments come amid intensified diplomatic efforts aimed at securing regional stability and restoring confidence in critical international shipping routes.
