The New York Times reported on Tuesday that a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
According to the report, the two-member crew was successfully rescued and evacuated from the crash site.
The cause of the incident remains unclear, and investigators are examining whether the helicopter was brought down by Iranian fire, suffered a mechanical failure, or encountered another issue.
U.S. President Donald Trump said that both pilots were safe, while the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet issued an official statement.
The incident comes shortly after a brief escalation between Iran and Israel, followed by a return to a ceasefire announced on Monday.
