The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency confirmed that a vessel was hijacked while sailing in the Gulf of Aden before being taken into Somali territorial waters.

The agency said the incident occurred 65 nautical miles south of the Yemeni city of Mukalla.

Yemen’s coast guard also reported that an oil tanker had been seized in a piracy attack carried out by a group of Somali pirates off the coast of Hadramout, while investigations remain underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
