The White House confirmed that the Democratic Republic of Congo national team will undergo a 21-day health isolation period before entering the United States to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a precautionary measure linked to the Ebola outbreak.
White House World Cup Committee Chairman Andrew Giuliani stated that the team would be required to maintain a closed “health bubble” to avoid any infections that could threaten its participation in the tournament.
The decision follows warnings issued by the World Health Organization, which classified the Ebola outbreak risk in the Democratic Republic of Congo as “very high” after dozens of infections and deaths linked to the virus were reported.
