The French national team is facing internal tensions weeks before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the French Football Federation asked players to agree to reduced participation bonuses.
French media reports stated that federation president Philippe Diallo discussed the matter with players during a meeting held this spring amid rising accommodation, travel, and logistical costs linked to hosting the tournament across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The move reportedly surprised “Les Bleus” players, especially with the tournament approaching and the team aiming to secure its third World Cup title under head coach Didier Deschamps.
