Cameroon Presidential Election Expected to Extend Paul Biya’s Rule

Voters in Cameroon will head to the polls on Sunday, October 12, in a presidential election widely expected to secure President Paul Biya (92) a record eighth term, after 43 years in power.

The country faces severe economic and social crises, including surging living costs, high youth unemployment, a separatist conflict in English-speaking regions, and repeated militant attacks in the north.
