Ethiopia has recorded unprecedented growth in wheat production, reaching approximately 33 million tons annually compared with 2.5 million tons less than a decade ago.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that the country has achieved wheat self-sufficiency after years of challenges linked to drought and food insecurity.
The figures place Ethiopia seventh globally alongside Canada, a development viewed as a significant contribution to food security across Africa, which relies heavily on wheat imports from Russia and Ukraine.
