Iran May Allow Safe Passage via Omani Side of Hormuz in Talks Proposal

An informed Iranian source said Tehran may consider allowing ships to pass safely through the Omani side of the Strait of Hormuz as part of proposals discussed in negotiations with the United States.

The source indicated that such a move could be implemented if an agreement is reached to prevent a resumption of war after the current ceasefire.

The conflict has caused the largest-ever disruption to global oil and gas supplies, as Iran blocked traffic through the strait, which carries around 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas flows.

Hundreds of tankers and other vessels, along with around 20,000 seafarers, have been stranded in the Gulf since the outbreak of the conflict on February 28.
