The International Football Association Board has given preliminary approval to increasing the prize money for the 2026 World Cup, in response to concerns from national federations about travel costs and taxes.

The total funds allocated to the 48 participating teams are expected to rise amid record revenues for FIFA.

The move is part of a broader program to support national associations and develop global football, with final approval expected at a FIFA Council meeting in Canada.
