Mauritania has denied reports of armed groups infiltrating its territory, insisting on full and permanent control over all its borders, particularly in frontier regions.
The denial came hours after the African Corps, a Russian defense unit operating in Mali, announced it had conducted aerial reconnaissance operations detecting what it described as a large armed group.
According to a statement posted on the X, the group reportedly consisted of around 200 armed individuals, 150 motorcycles, and trucks equipped with weapons and missiles, and may have crossed from Malian territory into Mauritania.
Nouakchott reaffirmed that its border security situation remains fully under control, while no official response has yet been issued by Malian authorities regarding the claims.
