Italian media reported on Sunday a medical update regarding Croatian star Luka Modrić, midfielder of AC Milan, after suffering a serious facial injury during the match against Juventus in Serie A matchday 34.

Modrić sustained the injury following a heavy collision with Manuel Locatelli, resulting in a fractured cheekbone and requiring surgical intervention.

AC Milan issued an official statement indicating that the player’s season is almost over, while expressing hope for his recovery in time to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The club confirmed that he has undergone surgery and will begin rehabilitation in the coming period.
