International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi stated that Kazakhstan has expressed its willingness to host Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which is close to weapons-grade levels, should a new agreement be reached between Washington and Tehran.
Grossi explained that Astana is open to storing approximately 440 kilograms of Iranian enriched uranium, in line with a condition set by U.S. President Donald Trump requiring the material to be transferred outside Iran.
Although Tehran has publicly rejected relinquishing its uranium stockpile, sources indicate that the proposal remains a key component of efforts aimed at securing a 60-day extension of the ceasefire and facilitating the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
