Three continental football confederations, including UEFA, have accused FIFA President Gianni Infantino of fundamentally breaching the trust of the institutions he is expected to serve, following his failed plan to sell a stake in the World Cup to private equity investors.
In an open letter, the confederations said the crisis reflected a failure of governance and judgment rather than merely a communication problem, stressing that the attempt to sell a stake in the tournament represented a “profound failure of judgment.”
