French authorities are preparing for a new round of protests on Saturday by introducing stricter security measures, including bans on demonstrations, expanded curfews, and the closure of museums and metro stations.
The measures are intended to prevent a recurrence of the violence and looting reported in several parts of the country last week.
The French Interior Ministry announced that police deployment would increase by 20% compared with the previous weekend, with additional protection for sensitive locations and commercial districts.
President Emmanuel Macron said restoring calm was the government’s priority, accusing organized far-left groups of seeking to undermine the French Republic.
The measures come ahead of planned demonstrations against the rising cost of living, with student organizations and the Yellow Vest movement calling for further gatherings.
