Nigeria’s northeastern Borno State is facing a severe cholera outbreak that has killed 74 people and infected more than 7,000 others since early May.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) confirmed cases in 14 of the state’s 27 local government areas, while more than 7,400 patients have received treatment.
Humanitarian workers attribute the spread of the disease to inadequate water and sanitation services in a region already suffering from the long-term effects of the conflict with Boko Haram.
