The U.S. military carried out a strike on a boat suspected of being involved in drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Thursday, killing three people.

The operation is part of an ongoing campaign by President Donald Trump’s administration targeting alleged drug-smuggling networks and organized crime groups across Latin America.

U.S. authorities have not immediately released details regarding the identities or nationalities of those killed, nor have they disclosed further information about the investigation.

Washington has continued to expand its counter-narcotics operations in the region, saying the efforts are aimed at disrupting transnational criminal organizations.
