U.S. Military Launches “Freedom Project” in Strait of Hormuz with Major Air and Ground Support

The United States Armed Forces announced it will begin supporting the operation launched by President Donald Trump in the Strait of Hormuz, deploying more than 100 aircraft and thousands of troops.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces will begin on Monday supporting the “Freedom Project,” aimed at “restoring freedom of navigation for commercial vessels” through the vital maritime corridor.

The command added that the mission, directed by the president, is designed to ensure safe and unrestricted passage for commercial shipping through the strait, a key global trade route.

CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper stated that supporting this defensive mission is “essential for regional security and the global economy,” noting that operations will continue alongside the naval blockade imposed by the United States on Iranian ports.

The statement also highlighted a new initiative by the US Department of State, in coordination with the Department of Defense, to enhance coordination and information sharing among international partners to support maritime security in the strait.
