Wall Street Journal Reports Alleged Emirati Strike on Iranian Oil Refinery

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, May 11, 2026, citing informed sources, that the United Arab Emirates allegedly carried out a secret direct military strike on an Iranian oil refinery in April.

According to the newspaper, the attack targeted a refinery located on Iran’s Lavan Island in the Gulf, causing a major fire that reportedly disrupted a significant portion of the facility’s operations.

The sources claimed that a ceasefire had not yet fully taken effect at the time of the strike, adding that the United States did not oppose the operation and, according to the report, welcomed the involvement of other Gulf countries that were interested in joining the conflict.

The report also stated that the UAE adopted what it described as an “escalatory stance” in the Gulf following Iranian attacks, while military cooperation between Washington and Abu Dhabi reportedly remained strong throughout the recent conflict.

No official comment has yet been issued by the U.S. Department of Defense or Emirati authorities regarding the allegations.
