At least 15 civilians were killed, and nine others were wounded in a drone strike targeting a commercial transport vehicle on a road linking South and West Kordofan states in Sudan.

Local sources said the vehicle was carrying 37 passengers when it came under attack, accusing the Sudanese army of carrying out the strike.

The incident drew widespread condemnation from political and civil groups, which described it as part of continuing attacks affecting civilians in Darfur and Kordofan.

The strike comes amid the escalating conflict that has gripped Sudan since April 2023 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
