The United States is preparing to designate Venezuela’s “Cartel de los Soles”, allegedly linked to President Nicolás Maduro, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.

According to U.S. officials, the decision is expected to be announced today as part of an expanded pressure campaign on Maduro’s government, enabling broader U.S. operations against networks associated with Caracas.

The move comes amid heightened tensions between the two countries over sanctions and drug-trafficking allegations.
