EU–U.S. Deal Moves Forward to Ratify Trade Agreement Cutting Tariffs

Political groups in the European Parliament reached an understanding on the conditions for implementing the EU–U.S. trade agreement signed in July 2025, paving the way for a formal vote and final negotiations with member states.

Under the deal, the United States would impose a 15% tariff on EU exports, while the EU would reduce tariffs on U.S. goods to zero.

The ratification process had previously faced controversy amid U.S. threats to impose additional tariffs.
