Neuer Comes Out of Retirement to Lead Germany at the 2026 World Cup

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann announced the final “Die Mannschaft” squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighted by the return of veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after reversing his decision to retire from international football following Euro 2024.

Neuer is preparing for his fifth World Cup appearance after reclaiming his place as Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The squad features a mix of experienced players and rising talents led by captain Joshua Kimmich, alongside Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz, and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Germany will open its Group E campaign against Curaçao on June 14 in Houston.
