Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Parliament, announced that Iran is preparing to implement a new mechanism regulating passage through the Strait of Hormuz, allowing transit only for commercial vessels and parties cooperating with Tehran.
He explained that the plan includes designated shipping routes and the imposition of service fees as part of what he described as ensuring Iranian sovereignty and the security of international trade.
The move comes amid escalating tensions with the United States and growing international concerns over the potential impact of new restrictions on global energy supplies.
