Strict Health Monitoring After Hantavirus Outbreak on Cruise Ship Bound for Spain

The World Health Organization announced that all passengers aboard the cruise ship “Hondius,” heading to Spain, are considered high-risk contacts following a hantavirus outbreak onboard.

Madrid confirmed that several countries, including Germany, France, and Belgium, will send aircraft to evacuate their nationals, while the European Union will arrange transport for other European citizens.

The ship is expected to arrive in Tenerife on Sunday, where quarantine procedures and medical testing will begin.

The operating company confirmed that no new symptoms had appeared among passengers as of Friday evening.
