The UN Security Council adopted a resolution affirming that Morocco’s autonomy plan under its sovereignty constitutes “the most serious and realistic basis” for resolving the Western Sahara conflict, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Green March.
The resolution, approved by 11 votes with no opposition, urged all parties to resume negotiations based on the 2007 Moroccan proposal, which grants extensive local governance under Rabat’s sovereignty, while the Polisario Front continues to demand independence.
