World Cup 2026 Enters the Era of Smart Footballs with Electronic Charging and 12-Camera Tracking

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to introduce a fully smart football equipped with advanced electronic technologies, reflecting the rapid technological transformation in modern football.

The ball contains a rechargeable battery capable of operating for up to six hours, requiring charging before each match to ensure the tracking and sensor systems function at maximum efficiency.

The smart ball will be connected to 12 cameras installed in the stadium roof, allowing real-time tracking and providing precise data to assist referees and VAR officials in analyzing controversial incidents, particularly offside decisions and ball-contact situations.

The new system aims to improve refereeing accuracy and accelerate match reviews during the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
