Seven people were killed and three others injured in two roadside explosions in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, according to local authorities.
Bannu district police chief Yaser Afridi said the first blast targeted a passenger van with a remotely detonated improvised explosive device.
He added that as the wounded were being transported to a hospital for emergency treatment, a second improvised explosive device exploded, increasing the death toll and number of casualties.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks. Authorities have launched an investigation, while the region remains a hotspot for militant activity, including that of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
