The United States has announced the suspension of the financial guarantee requirement previously imposed on World Cup 2026 fans arriving from certain countries, under which applicants were required to pay a bond of up to $15,000 to obtain a visa.
The U.S. State Department said the exemption applies to fans holding confirmed tickets through the “FIFA Pass” system.
The decision follows widespread criticism of strict immigration policies adopted under President Donald Trump’s administration, amid concerns that such restrictions could affect foreign fan attendance at the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
