The U.S. State Department announced that a fifth round of Lebanese-Israeli negotiations will take place in Washington from June 23 to 25.

The department stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun ways to advance the talks toward a permanent agreement.

Washington considers the negotiations an opportunity to promote stability, reconstruction, and economic recovery in the region.

The announcement comes amid continuing military tensions in Lebanon and intensified diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis.
